The Itch - Space In The Cab

The Itch – Space In The Cab

Dance-punks The Itch recently dropped the single Space In The Cab and they headline The Great Escape’s First Fifty event at Sebright Arms tonight! On this track, The Itch eulogise the nightlife scene they’re trying to bring back with a track that drops out from banging, vocoder-laced party tune to an unexpected woozy breakdown: “And the clubs are all empty / They’re all out of pocket / I’m all out of options / I’m having a crisis”. For the duo, it’s about finding space for both – good times and real subjects, political undertones but also playfulness. “Some of my favourite lyricists, Jarvis Cocker and even Morrissey, their lyrics hit so much harder when there’s this element of dark humour to them,” band member Simon Tyrie says. “When things are too earnest, I don’t take them as seriously because people aren’t like that.”

Sex Mask - Cold

Sex Mask – Cold

Aussie post-punk trio Sex Mask announce new EP Body Broker and share the lead single Cold which sees them dive into a high adrenaline salvo of volatile ruminative vocals underpinned by hook-fuelled indie-punk instrumentation laden with hints of new-wave and post-punk. Vocalist Wry reveals the track was written “several years ago somewhere near the base of Mount Fuji. I was very unwell, bedridden and all the doctors were under the belief my state was induced by the influence of a rare neurotoxin I had picked up from eating fresh frogs and crabs in stormwater drains all over Japan’s suburban tunnel systems. I was filling glass jars with may beetles, aging them until they became like preserves.”

KuleeAngee - You're Fine, You're High

KuleeAngee – You’re Fine, You’re High

Glaswegian rave duo KuleeAngee have shared new single You’re Fine, You’re High, a huge party anthem that’s destined for the dancefloor, all big choruses and feel-good vibes. The band are an outrageous live proposition, blending infectious club-focussed electronics with eccentric songwriting and a dash of Caledonian extravagance. The band play London’s The Lower Third venue on November 27th and will also support afro-tronic gurus Ibibio Sound Machine on their UK tour. What an uplifting, toe-tapping explosive banger – love it!

Chloe Slater - War Crimes

Chloe Slater – War Crimes

Chloe Slater has shared a poignant new single and states: “War Crimes is a really important song to me. It feels like the first real protest song that I’ve ever written and an evolution of the musical style developed throughout my first two EPs .. I wrote the song after watching the genocide of Palestinians being broadcast to the world, and feeling a deep sense of helplessness as our leaders continued to dismiss the problem and enable the oppressors. Playing it live and watching the audience get emotional with me has been really powerful.” The single features artwork by Palestinian artist Ahmed Al Da’alsa, whose work documents life in Gaza. Slater will also release limited edition merchandise with his artwork, with profits supporting his relocation efforts.

ARXX - W.I.P.

ARXX – W.I.P.

Brighton powerpop duo ARXX return with their first new music in a year, and Work In Progress is a soaring self-awareness anthem that lands like a hug and a fist in the air at the same time. Self-released, the track finds Hanni Pidduck (they/them) and Clara Townsend (she/her) doing what they do best: turning emotional chaos into something loud, honest and beautifully hooky. Hanni states: “This song is about getting to a point in life when you feel like you should have figured it out and you realise you still don’t know what you’re doing.” ARXX are currently hitting millions more screens – their music features in the BBC One drama Riot Women, written and directed by Sally Wainwright (Happy ValleyGentleman Jack).

Mazawattee - Basically Everything

Mazawattee – Basically Everything

Mazawattee mix up breezily elegant croon-pop, romantic and debonair indie yearning and sweet folk-pop, with the influence of some of the best 90s and 00s bands, from My Life Story and Ooberman to The Cranberries and Noah & The Whale popping their heads above the parapet. Or, in their own words: “indie pop with folk roots. We focus on great songwriting and beautiful harmonies as our signature sound, throw in some lovely bass lines, synth-y key parts, and drums that drive everything forward.” Beautiful vocals on the infectious, upbeat new single Basically Everything – we can’t wait for their upcoming debut collection of singles.

Ain't - Long Short Round

Ain’t – Long Short Round

South London’s Ain’t have dropped the dynamic track Long Short Round, recorded by Ali Chant (Dry Cleaning, Yard Act, Sorry), and it takes their affinity for stranger side of 90s guitar music, post-punk, and shoegaze, and laces them with fuzz rich guitar lines and hook led harmonised vocals. As the track reaches its halfway point, the tension lessons and notes elongate and float to the surface. Lyrics become more defined: “Salting tired wounds/ It’s self imposed/ Cauterising bruise/ It’s self imposed.” The band state: “Long Short Round is about doing little rituals that feel as if they’re doing something good, but they’re utterly pointless when it comes to getting what you’re hoping for. Pressing a bruise for instance – it’s a wonderful sensation, but it doesn’t make you heal any faster.”

Sports Team - Medium Machine

Sports Team – Medium Machine

Sports Team have dropped their wistful single Medium Machine, taken from the deluxe edition of Boys These Days. “I read somewhere that Malkmus started Pavement trying to sound like The Fall. To me, Medium Machine is what it would have sounded like if he’d wanted to be Men At Work” explained lyricist and guitarist Rob Knaggs. Also featuring elements of slacker rock from the ’90s, we hear a distorted solo over a swirling instrumental that takes us to the single’s outro. The song is accompanied by a Kris Rimmer-directed music video. It depicts the band members performing as teenagers in their bedrooms, while dipping into some dreamlike scenes.

Lime Garden - Maybe Not Tonight

Lime Garden – Maybe Not Tonight

Brighton four-piece Lime Garden have shared their frenzied new single Maybe Not Tonight, a sparkling, confident indie pop number, with Chloe Howard’s snarling vocals matching the band’s chaotic energy. The band state: “It’s the soundtrack to a woman on the edge of making all the wrong choices, it feels like getting punched in the face with the morning after a night out.” Lime Garden have also confirmed a UK tour for March 2026, which will see them play headline shows in Manchester, Nottingham, Leeds and Bristol, with a final night in London’s Moth Club on March 19. What a banger!

Lynks - I Didn't Come Here For Art

Lynks – I Didn’t Come Here For Art

It’s great to have pop-provocateur Lynks back with the quick-witted electro-clash anthem I Didn’t Come Here For Art. Lynks says: “You know, there’s only so many times you can go to an “event” at some trendy “multi-use space” and be subjected to a bunch of pretentious bullsh*t “art” performances while all the straight mullet boys in their Palace tees nod their heads thoughtfully before you have to think – hey, enough is enough. This track is my call to arms. End all art immediately!!!” To launch the new Global Sex era, Lynks transformed London’s Selfridges car park into a subterranean queer rave above Oxford Street. The night saw surprise sets and guest appearances from Alex Chapman, Black Peppa, Tsatsamis, Elouiza, Greta Isaac and Thempress marking the perfect baptism for their  era — sweaty, euphoric, and unashamedly unhinged.
