Chiedu Oraka x Dead In Blue / Bite the Hand That Bleeds

“(Chiedu Oraka) The North’s most uncompromising & inspiring voices” DIY Mag

“Dead In Blue are giving us excellent arena hard rock… with tons of guitar riffs” Roadie Metal

“A formidable force in the North’s rap scene over the past decade, Chiedu Oraka has been a champion for neglected towns that sit in the shadows of success” The Line of Best Fit

Taken from the Warren Records album collaboration, which brings together a diverse range of artists from Hull & the surrounding area to collaborate on tracks which are written & recorded in two days, this hip-hop & rock mash-up sees ‘The Black YorkshiremanChiedu Oraka come together with local heavy rockers Dead In Blue. Chiedu’s socially aware verses are juxtaposed with Dead In Blues’s declaration of inner scars in the chorus, all underpinned by a guitar-led groove interspersed with blistering blues solos.

Chiedu says of the release “I’d say what my lyrics represent are a new found East Yorkshire confidence. It’s the realisation that we’ve got plenty of talent over these sides but at the same time don’t believe the hype of the music industry. Staying grounded is the key to being successful. The glitz & the glamour doesn’t mean you’ve made it, but staying true to your art & purpose does. Absolutely loved working with Dead In Blue. First time I’d met them, so you never know how a session is going to work when stepping into the unknown. They took me out of my comfort zone & brought out a different side to me & I can’t wait for you all to hear it”.

For Dead In Blue it was very much a learning experience as they explain: It was very surreal to be challenged to write & complete a recording in two days, especially for a collaboration in a genre we’ve never delved into. To work with Chiedu was a game changer – one of Hull’s biggest & the best! The writing process flowed naturally & we riffed off each smoothly, even though musically we were both out of our comfort zones. The best takeaway for us was not just the music, but the knowledge gained from chats with Chiedu & how he progressed in his career, giving us more of a game plan to branch out of the Hull scene
