KiosK - Baby Teeth

KiosK – Baby Teeth

Leeds duo KiosK have shared their new single Baby Teeth and it embraces their darker side. Gone is the up-beat, rave-indebted electronica of previous releases, instead the track is a heavily darkwave inspired cut which puts Bella Alcock’s vocals at the fore and strips back some of their more danceable moments for a more atmospheric approach. Continuing their collaboration with Berlin and Leeds-based DJ and producer DJ Subaru, the track pairs restless electronic textures with a more personal lyrical thread. As Alcock explains, it reflects on growing up, leaving things behind and losing touch with an old friend, while giving the duo room to experiment with new equipment.

The Kick - Wish 4

The Kick – Wish 4

Taken from their debut record 1+1, new single Wish 4 is a jet-pack joyride from California surf-rock duo The Kick (aka best friends Charlie Ziman and Nathan Tsunoda). At 7 minutes long, it’s a kaleidoscopic insight into The Kicks‘ inhibition. Bopping between surfer rock, psychedelia, and garage punk, it navigates a tightrope act of sonic exploration, one that’s held together by their self-confidence. Ziman closed a conversation with Best Fit with a summary of their musical worldview: “I’ll say this, at the end of the day, it’s not that deep, but it’s also the deepest thing ever. We’re still learning, and you know, we’re gonna have fun. I’ll leave it at that.”

Quantum Flirts - Deep Listening

Quantum Flirts – Deep Listening (ft. Emma-Lee Moss)

In an age of scrolling & short attention spans, Quantum Flirts embraces brevity as an art form’ is how they start off the press blurb & brother they’re not joking! At under one minute long, this fleeting moment of sonic beauty does pull you in with its enchanting innocence. Featuring the enigmatic Emmy the Great on spoken word, Deep Listening is inspired by Emmy’s workshop of the same name and draws on a practice developed by experimental composer Pauline Oliveros I’m told. I do wish it was longer tbh as that could have allowed further development of the ideas (that it’s rich in), but as the band’s creator Nathan Loughran is keen to expound, the music offers a witty reflection on our media-saturated, attention-fragmented world, speaking to those strange flickering signals, half-thoughts & coincidences that shimmer at the end of perception… now there’s food for thought!

Malin Andersson - Calm The Chaos

Malin Andersson – Calm The Chaos

Ahead of her Seeking Something EP, Swedish born, London based singer-songwriter Malin Andersson shares this thought-provoking track as a taste of what’s to come. Rich chorused guitars set the scene on this highly pensive number before Malin perfectly captures the sense of confusion & anxiety that can overwhelm us all when things aren’t working out. Singing about the “challenge of waiting” and how the “discomfort of staying proved us wrong”, Malin’s songwriting has developed a lot since her debut album Follow with tracks like Ships In The Night & How It’s Supposed to Feel from her 2nd album cutting through as shining examples of her contemporary writing style. Looking forward to hearing the EP as a whole and where she’ll go on the songwriting tip for future releases.

Tough Cookie - Home Run

Taken from London art-grunge band Tough Cookie‘s new EP Devotion, the single Home Run captures the skin-close stress of cutting off someone whose wreckage has gone too deep. The quartet deal in a crushing kind of honesty, holding affection and hurt in the same breath without letting either soften the force of the other. The track opens with reverberating strings and fuzzy electronic textures, before a sparkling guitar line carries the melody forward. Vocalist August Tse states: “OK Computer and The Bends [by Radiohead] are very crucial to how we approach production and songwriting. Dan Hvorostovsky adds: “And more recently, there’s definitely been Grace by Jeff Buckley.”

Julia Jacklin - If I Had The Hand Of God

Julia Jacklin – If I Had The Hand Of God

Julia Jacklin recently shared the infectious single If I Had The Hand Of God, taken from new album The Gem, which documents a strange trip to Nashville and her own relationship to the music industry. The album, Jacklin says, is about the following: “I want to love and be loved, but I also want to be free. The tension between those two things has been the central question of my life.” When Jacklin first moved to Melbourne from Sydney in 2017, she discovered a little bar on a back street in Collingwood, where bands pushed dining tables to the side and set up in a corner on the floor. She didn’t know anyone in town but knew she wanted to make the city her home, so she started hanging out there, forcing herself out of her comfort zone. The pub was named The Gem.

Adult DVD - Cowboy On Aisle Three

Adult DVD – Cowboy On Aisle Three

Back in July Leeds dance-punk outfit Adult DVD dropped the poignant, witty single Cowboy On Aisle Three, a gritty party anthem that sees the group face up to an existential crisis. “I came up with the idea when I was in Lidl,” explained frontman Harry Hanson of the raucous tune. “I’m sure everyone has thought, ‘Imagine if I just went nuts now’, to get out of doing the big shop.” Synth-player Greg Lonsdale adds: “We don’t take things too seriously. The lyrics have got sillier, the songs have got sillier. We make music for people to enjoy, so let them have a laugh.” In the making of their debut album, the band went harder on what was already working for them: witty observational songwriting based in real-life characters and a pulsating synth-punk sound perfect for both the rave and the mosh pit.

Gurriers - Nobody's Coming To Save You

Gurriers – Nobody’s Coming To Save You

Gurriers recently shared their new album Nobody’s Coming to Save You and the band say of the title track: “It’s a song that feels hopeless on its first listen, but if you look at it more deeply it’s a call to action. No-one is going to rise up if everyone expects someone else to do it. We all have to do our part in creating the change.” The album was recorded between Donegal’s Attica Studios and Holy Mountain Studios in London with IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen and Loren Humphrey serving as co-producers. The LP was engineered by Chris Fullard and mixed by John Congleton. The album is described as channelling Gurrier‘s spirit of protest and resistance into some of their most ambitious work yet.

Silver Gore - Just Like That

Silver Gore – Just Like That

Silver Gore are back with their new single Just Like That, an impeccable pop song, with some of their most direct and affecting melodies. “Just Like That is about operating under the playful superstition that crossing your fingers behind your back voids the sin or the penalty of deceit,” Ava Gore says of the new single. “It’s about being spirited, bold and cheeky but quietly asking the powers that be for protection or forgiveness while pushing the boundaries in a relationship.” The duo are supporting Yard Act on a run of UK dates this month ending with their headline date at the George Tavern in London on 12 January 2027 – don’t miss out on a banging show.

Lifeloose - 07XXXXXXXXX

Lifeloose – 07XXXXXXXXX

Constantly gigging around London, Lifeloose have released their latest enticing single 07XXXXXXXXX, a tribute to the state of modern courtship in the city. Opening with a declaration of love for a previous hookup, the track is upheld by groovy dial tone and nonchalant calls for a new potential lover’s digits. The track is three minutes of dance music pulled together by bass, notification alerts and a simple hook – a staple of their electrifying live set. Describing 07XXXXXXXXX, the pair shared: “we’re taking the piss out of classic capital city club romance and fantasising what it would be like if we had hoes – but with a squelchy bass, heavy electro drums and glossy girly vocals. Let’s get anglophonic.”
