Fontaines D.C. – It’s Amazing To Be Young
Dublin’s Fontaines D.C. have shared their heartfelt new single It’s Amazing To Be Young which showcases frontman Grian Chatten’s vocals over an upbeat melody and it features a video from acclaimed BAFTA-winning filmmaker Luna Carmoon (Hoard, Shagbands). Speaking to NME, bassist Conor ‘Deego’ Deegan III explained how the song was inspired by being “in the presence of a newborn child” – the child of guitarist Carlos O’Connell: “It was really heartwarming. Sometimes as people we can be a bit cynical. The world around us can make you that way if you’re paying attention it. Sometimes optimism feels like a necessary delusion, but with the birth of a new child we were introduced to a really pure and deep beauty and hope that can’t be debated away by anyone jaded or even by ourselves.” What a beautiful track.

Nadia Sheikh – How to Lose a Friend
London-based Nadia Sheikh has shared infectious new single How to Lose a Friend, influenced by early 2000s pop rock. The dynamic, punchy track delves into a friendship gone awry after one party developed unreciprocated feelings. She explains: “I wrote this song when I lost a really dear friendship due to feelings that I didn’t share. It was honestly so hard to come to terms with the fact that things would never be the same. It’s a bittersweet story but I wanted to give it a different energy. I wanted to embrace my pop influences and make something exciting, up-tempo and full of energy whilst still encapsulating the essence of who I am as an artist.” Great songwriting on this absolute earworm – love it!

Adult DVD – Doomsday Prepper
It’s been out a while but heard Adult DVD‘s sharp-witted track Doomsday Prepper on Steve Lamacq‘s show and we’re loving it! It’s all about preparing for the end of the world and the band have injected the funk into their hook-laden style. The instrumentation is wild and at times chaotic, as if falling apart along with the world, but then it slips back into its infectious groove. The warped percussion, distorted backing vocals and screaming synths combine to reflect the carnage of the subject manner. The gang vocals are superb and the humour is there in spades. Frontman Harry Hanson’s deadpan delivery here adds to the overall vibe which nods towards indie-dance and acid-house.

Prima Queen – Oats (Ain’t Gonna Beg)
Indie duo Prima Queen recently dropped their new single Oats (Ain’t Gonna Beg), taken from the upcoming debut album The Prize and, as always, it’s a winner – an infectious, kooky track with bouncing basslines and extravagant guitar riffs, layered upon a distinct message of self-assurance and preservation. The band state: “After refusing to write another sad song, we wanted to make a fun take on the chaos of modern dating. Oats is the all-too-common story of the rise and fall of a romance. It’s easy to take it personally when you get messed around in love, but most of the time it has nothing to do with you. Usually it comes from people’s unresolved issues from their past, and it’s important to stay strong in your own self worth and not be afraid to walk away! No one should be begging for love, you should be being lavished with it.”

CJ Wiley – People Please
Slack rocker CJ Wiley questions ideals on new single People Please. Hazy guitars and bold drums set the tone for the song along with an eclectic mist of sound that immediately compels. CJ’s sultry tones slip into the mix, bold and unwavering. “People Please challenges the music industry’s ideals of who I should be and what success looks like,” CJ says of the track. “For too long I let others dictate my sound, my image, and who I was supposed to be. But I’ve realized I need to create art that truly represents me. It’s about being fed up with people trying to put you in a box and fighting to reclaim your authenticity.” Smooth and compelling with its warm edges of R&B, the track is taken from Toronto-based CJ’s debut LP So Brand New.

she’s green – Graze
Alt-rock outfit she’s green have shared dreamy, shoegaze new single Graze, a soft ballad that builds and builds. The track opens with warped, layered guitars then vocalist Zofia Smith’s soft voice comes in, floating atop the distorted instrumentals, giving the song a dreamlike feel. she’s green faces their memory head-on with pounding drums and electric guitar as the song comes to its conclusion. The band state: “It’s about feeling trapped in a distant memory and longing to find a way out. The only way to escape seems to be facing it head-on and finally getting the release you need.” The music video features Smith swirling around greenery and serenity until the song bursts into distorted chaos, with frenzied visuals to match.

Luvcat – Love & Money
Rising pop artist Luvcat has shared infectious, witty new single Love & Money, a love letter to passionate, all consuming romance in the city and the accompanying video features one of Luvcat’s former partners, with scenes filmed across London locations significant to her past. “Love & Money is a love letter to a Pam and Tommy-style passionate, all-consuming romance in the city,” Luvcat explains. “I wrote it after meeting a bartender at a pub, falling in love at first sight and having a never-ending night of mischief in London. We filmed in all my old haunts and tried to capture the chaos of two naive scousers living a beautiful, sleazy love story in London.”

Soft Loft – Leave The Light On
Soft Loft recently shared the melancholic track Leave The Light On, taken from the upcoming EP Modern Roses. Vocalist Jorina Stamm states: “The light is never really out, and they keep falling back to each other, but never really in a good way, there’s always a little bit of water left in the kettle to keep it boiling. It’s that fine line between something good and something you never want to go back to. And you keep on wishing for that person to just turn the light off.” The lyrics explore the emotional complexity of a relationship that lingers unresolved, caught between the need to move on and the struggle to let go. The song captures unfinished business, with its upbeat tone making it perfect for those summer blues.

Sleeping Together – The Essentials
Manchester-based indie-rock outfit Sleeping Together have shared their energetic new single The Essentials which encapsulates a messy night out—the sense of liberty, the impulsive decisions, the what-ifs and the why not, and the impulsive, drink-fuelled moves. A fantastic modern sounding indie track – the sound of low-slung guitars being slashed and sliced, of shimmering riffs and pummelling beats, punctuating bass lines and anthemic vocals. It’s an energetic, dance-rock anthem built for live crowds, blending Foals-like grooves with late-2010s intensity. The personality and swagger of Sleeping Together provides them with a really distinctive edge that bursts with life and charm, and alongside acts like The Clause and Bandit, are paving the way for a new generation of exciting UK bands.

Provoker – Another Boy
Los Angeles-based Provoker have shared atmospheric new single Another Boy, taken from their upcoming album Mausoleum. The album is thematically rooted in feelings of isolation, but practically, is one of the most communal and collaborative projects the band has ever made, produced by esteemed producer Kenneth Blume. The band workshopped ideas together in studio sessions, born out of Petty’s thoughts of hauntings while holed up in an Echo Park attic. They formed a decade ago as a medium for Jonathon Lopez’s horror and sci-fi film scores but eventually expanded into an unmissable trio. While Provoker never lost their love of horror, they fixate on everyday hauntings (dread, regret, isolation, etc.) and lean into tense groove on this latest track. Its music video, directed by Andrea Riba, matches the ominous mood, starring the three members as trapped, dead-eyed mannequins.
