“Watch your back Mike Skinner, word waterfall rapper Jodie Langford is in town” Turn Up the Volume
“Sounding excellent” John Kennedy / Radio X
Having built on the success of her debut ‘lockdown’ single I Miss It with releases TV Or Not TV and How It Is (feat. Marx) earlier this year, Northern wordsmith Jodie Langford is back with Disturbed – a fresh new cut that tops off what’s been an explosive twelve months for the artist.
With its hypnotic gut-punching beat produced by Hull’s “King of Electro” Endoflevelbaddie, the highly infectious Disturbed was initially inspired by Jodie’s time spent decaying within the walls of a call centre, repeating the same routine day after day, having to meet expectations of compliance and sales targets, while wondering how her time could be better spent. It later developed into a dialogue about being overwhelmed by the demands of modern life in general, as well as personal relationships and the boundaries between the selfless and the selfish. Have you ever yearned for a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign to be plastered across your forehead?
