“Sounding excellent” John Kennedy / Radio X
“Hook-laden vocal melodies shine a light upon Byrns’ humorous approach to the difficulties of everyday life” Hard of Hearing
Following the release of his Big lyric video last year, we shine a spotlight on the Texas born, Swindon bred Londoner Rainn Byrns’ track How Can I Get You Out Of My Life – an upbeat ‘crappy-go-lucky’ lo-fi gem, taken from his album New In Town, about moving on from relationships & cutting out the toxic elements in your life.
With its bright & breezy bedroom pop feel, How Can I Get You Out Of My Life sees Rainn respectfully explaining to the other party that he has to move on while doffing his cap to what was ‘good at the time’ but now he’s a different person. Rainn explains “I get itchy feet sometimes & don’t like feeling stuck in a rut… that’s when I just need to trust in & follow my heart, while respecting the other & recognising what was a good time then but not working now”.
As with all of Rainn’s recorded music, How Can I Get You Out Of My Life was recorded at his home studio in Peckham (known for its super-rich art scene) where he plays all the instruments himself using only analogue recording techniques.
